Born September 26, 1949, in 's Gravenhage, the Netherlands, son of Harm Geert Buiter and Hendrien Buiter van Schooten.

Married to Anne C. Sibert, 5 June 1998. For her resume click here.
Children: David Michael Alejandro and Elizabeth Lorca.
Hobbies: Science fiction and fantasy novels, poetry, music, theatre, tennis, open source/free software.
